Alana Christie Bianchi

Meet Alana

A Minneapolis native, Alana Christie Bianchi started competing as an individual skater at the age of 7. She is a double gold medalist in freestyle and skating skills. After a dozen plus years as an accomplished freestyle skater, Alana skated two seasons for Team Braemar Junior where the team was the 2011 World Junior Bronze Medalists and the 2012 U.S. Synchronized Skating National Junior Champions.

Alana was then a member of the Miami University Senior Varsity Synchronized Skating team for four seasons, from 2013-2016, where they represented Team USA, claiming medals in international competitions across Europe. She was part of three U.S. Senior World Teams, competing at the World Championships against the best synchronized skating teams in the World.

She also served as a co-captain of Miami Senior during the 2015-2016 season. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miami University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health with a concentration in Sports Leadership and Management.

Alana truly has great love and passion for the sport of figure skating and synchronized skating and is committed to giving competitive Twin Cities skaters an opportunity to be a part of this incredible sport.

She is currently the Director of Synchronized Skating for Northernettes Synchronized Skating, and resides in St Louis Park with her husband, and dog, Peach. When she's not at the rink, she enjoys traveling, eating out and walking around the lakes!


  • Alana has been coaching skating for 13 years, starting first with Learn to Skate and Private Lessons and eventually coaching synchronized skating.

    Her first synchro season as a coach was during the 2016-2017 season, and she will be entering her 10th season coaching a Junior Team (among other levels).

  • Alana emphasize's an approach that nurtures both performance and personal development. She balances encouragement with honest, respectful feedback to build trust and promote a growth mindset.

    Celebrating progress, no matter how small, keeps athletes engaged and motivated! She actively works to cultivate a culture of respect, collaboration, and support. Strong communication—between coaches, athletes, and families—is essential for building relationships that last for years. She empowers athletes to take ownership of their progress and encourage leadership within the team to foster maturity, self-awareness, and teamwork.

    Ultimately, her coaching philosophy is about helping athletes become not just better skaters, but confident, resilient individuals prepared for success on and off the ice.

Alana’s Accomplishments and Awards

Alana was the MN State Juvenile Champion in 2007, and competed locally through the Senior Level. She is a double gold medalist in Freestyle and Skating Skills. As a synchro skater, she skated 6 seasons on Team USA (2 on Junior, 4 on Senior), and competed at five World Championships Events. She was a member of Team Breamar Junior from 2010-2012, where they were the 2011 Junior World Bronze Medalists, and 2012 Junior National Champions. She skated with Miami University Senior from 2012-2016, and earned four National medals with the team, as well as three trips to the Senior World Championships.
