Katie Bjorlin

Meet Katie

I grew up in Chanhassen, MN and skated at Minnetonka Ice Arena, where I was a member of the Windjammers Synchronized Skating teams for 8 years. With the Windjammers, I competed at Nationals at the Juvenile and Novice levels. During high school, I became a gold medalist in Moves in the Field, and Silver medalist in Freestyle.

I then went to Wheaton College IL, where I got a degree in Psychology. With a desire to find that fun team atmosphere I was missing from synchro, I joined my college cheer team (without any previous cheer experience!!). After I graduated, I joined the Chicago Radiance Adult synchro team where we were National competitors in 2017.

After moving back to Minnesota, I continued coaching at Minnetonka Ice Arena, both learn to skate & private lessons. I also continued skating myself, and passed my Gold Solo Free Dance and Gold Solo Pattern dance! In 2023 I joined the Northernettes coaching staff, and have worked with the Preliminary & Juvenile teams.

Outside of the rink, I'm a nanny/house manager, and have my own business helping people clean out their closets & selling their clothes online!

  • I've been coaching skating for 14 years. I began coaching Learn to Skate in high school at Minnetonka Ice Arena, and then also during college in the Chicago suburbs. After I moved back to the cities, I returned to coaching at Minnetonka Ice Arena, both Learn to Skate and private lessons (skating skills & ice dance). Now, my primary coaching focus is synchro, where I am in my 4th season coaching with the Northernettes!

  • Synchro was my favorite part of skating growing up, so I love being on the "other side" now as a coach! I believe coaching is a lot more than just the on-ice skill training - I want my skaters to become great teammates, humans, and athletes both on and off the ice.

    Her ultimate goal is to foster driven athletes who embrace challenges, learn from every experience, and find joy in their pursuit of excellence.
