K Eri Lee

Meet K Eri

Hi all! My name is Eri Lee (call me "air-ee"), and I'm thrilled to be a part of the True North FSC as a coach, mentor, and community member. I'm currently a researcher and student in sport sociology, the study of how people interact with and within sporting cultures and institutions, at the University of Minnesota's School of Kinesiology.

My educational expertise, personal experiences as an elite athlete, and passion for creating joy- and progress-centered sporting experiences are foundational to my approach to coaching. As a former competitive synchronized skating athlete whose career has spanned ISI developmental teams to USFS Senior World Teams, I have gained invaluable insight into both the challenging demands and fulfilling gratification that this sport provides us, which guides my ethos in mentorship.

As a coach, I am committed to not only instilling discipline, resilience, and technical and artistic excellence but also ensuring that my students feel a sense of trust, confidence, and safety in themselves, their coaching team, and their friends and teammates.

I'm looking forward to meeting you to learn more about why skating speaks to you and how I can help you achieve your goals!

Synchronized Skating (with organizations): 2 years

  • Figure skating can be a tough sport that demands a lot of sacrifice from young athletes. With this in mind, I do my best to prioritize autonomy and intrinsic motivation when working with students by centering their goals and supporting what they hope to gain from our lesson time. I see myself as a guide to help them learn how to progress in the directions that make the most sense for them. I can't be their coach forever, so I hope to instill the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate their lives with a strong sense of self-esteem far beyond our time together.

I am a strong believer in teaching resilience through empathy, trust, and community support.

Athletes will inevitably face difficult challenges in their lives within and outside of sport - it is my job to ensure that they learn how to develop deep systems of support so that they can face those hurdles with confidence.
